To revive her massacred tribe, Lydarc must die and go to hell.

In battle, Lydarc, the warrior shaman was embedded with the shard of an otherworldly being called an Over, and now suffers from constant pain, bouts of rage, and horrific visions of a looming apocalypse that she is destined to trigger.

Lydarc has at last escaped her violent past to hunt and gather for her found family, defending them from mythical beasts and otherworldly attackers in a far-future Oregon wilderness. But when her tribe is annihilated in the human realm, she must breach the underlands, a mortal hell reached only by drowning in a bottomless lake, to revive them.

Joining her on this dangerous mission are the ursine spirit animal of her disabled apprentice, a book-loving metallic dragon, and her former captain, the ex-lover who left her for the mother of the child he now begs Lydarc to rescue from hell.

So begins Lydarc’s perilous shamanic journey, a blind plunge into the true nature of the Overs and the black hearts of men.
